An eThekwini municipality water tanker driver is now facing murder charges after a fatal incident in Adams, south of Durban. According to reports, the driver allegedly drove directly into a young boy while trying to get away from residents who were confronting him.
The confrontation started after community members accused the driver of selling municipal water, despite their area having gone weeks without supply. As the crowd chased him, the tanker struck the boy. Video circulating online shows the vehicle hitting the child and then leaving the scene.
Police confirmed the driver fled but was later arrested. The clip of the incident has sparked widespread anger in the community, with residents demanding accountability over both the water shortages and the death.
