“South Africans failed him” Solly Moholo’s family blames Mzansi for not donating R700 000 for him to get brain surgery

The South African gospel music industry is mourning the loss of iconic singer Solly Moholo, who passed away on October 2, 2024, after a long battle with illness.

 

Moholo’s team confirmed his passing, announcing that he had succumbed to health complications following a pre-album launch tour in Botswana.

Moholo was renowned for his distinctive voice and hit songs, including “Ke Latlhile Bokinza” and “Robala ka Khotso.” His contributions to the gospel music industry were immense, and his legacy will endure through his uplifting songs.

Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM) Provincial Chairperson, Mphoza Mashabela, described Moholo as a “great pillar of gospel music” and a mentor to many. Mashabela described Moholo’s passing as a significant loss to the industry.

Moholo’s impact extended beyond his music. As a producer, he helped launch the careers of prominent artists, including gospel singer Winnie Mashaba. His influence on the South African gospel music scene will be deeply missed.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult time and has announced that funeral arrangements will be shared through Moholo’s social media channels. Moholo’s team expressed gratitude for the public’s support and prayers.
