Ntseki admits Chiefs supporters were not happy by his appointment

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has revealed that Amakhosi supporters were not happy with his appointment last season.

After failing to reach an agreement with the Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi, Kaizer Chiefs appointed Molefi Ntseki as their new head coach at the beginning of 2023/24 season.

Kaizer Chiefs were not willing to let Nasreddine Nabi join the club along with his technical team as they felt it would be too much for the club to let go of the whole Arthur Zwaneʼs technical team.

Nasreddine Nabi ended up joining the Moroccan side, FAR Rabat from Yanga African instead. Kaizer Chiefs had no choice but to appoint Molefi Ntseki, who was already in the clubʼs management.

Molefi Ntseki was appointed on the 1st of July 2023, however, the club parted ways with just three months due to the pressure the club was receiving from the supporters.

Amakhosi supporters threw objects in the pitch more than once during Molefi Ntsekiʼs era. That forced the PSL DC to charge Kaizer Chiefs for unpleasant behavior.

The 54-year-old has finally spoke to the media about his time at Kaizer Chiefs. He stated that the clubʼs management were looking to appoint Nasreddine Nabi, however, there was a twist during their meeting.

That is when the clubʼs management decided to promote Molefi Ntseki from being the head of technical development to the head coach of the senior team.

Despite being a huge step for the inexperienced coach like Molefi Ntseki, he accepted the job and was hoping the club and the supporters would work together in growing the club together. However, the supporters were impatient and wanted immediate results.

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach did not shy away from stating that the clubʼs supporters were not happy about his appointment, as they felt he is not the right man to lead the club to glory days.

After the coach was sacked last year in October, Cavin Johnson was appointed as the clubʼs interim coach. However, the appointment of Cavin Johnson did not help the club as the former Platinum Stars and Amazulu FC coach failed to deliver at the club.

Amakhosi ended up finishing in the 10th position last season, failing to qualify for the MTN8 Cup. That forced the club to seek for a more experienced coach to lead the club going forward.

Nasreddine Nabi has been finally appointed as the Kaizer Chiefs new head coach and has also brought his own technical team. He is currently in Turkey, along with the rest of Amakhosi squad.

Meanwhile, Molefi Ntseki is currently unemployed and seeking for a new club going forward. Cavin Johnson is also unemployed.

Overall, Molefi Ntseki managed 13 matches at Kaizer Chiefs in all competitions. In those 13 matches, he won only four games, drew three games and lost a total of six games.

He was knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 Cup in the semi-finals. That was one of the reasons that made Kaizer Chiefs supporters upset.

The Glamour Boys will be looking to end their nine-year trophy drought when the 2024/25 season starts.
