GS Funeral Parlour has withdrawn from facilitating the funeral of Kwaito legend Mapaputsi, whose real name was Sandile Ngwenya.

The parlour announced that it would respect the family’s decision to appoint a new service provider, despite initial plans to facilitate the funeral.
The decision was made by Mapaputsi’s daughter, Precious Ngwenya, who wanted to honor her father’s wishes by using the funeral plan he had already arranged.

Mapaputsi passed away on September 5, 2024, after an illness. His memorial service will take place on September 12, 2024, at the Eyethu Shopping Centre in Mofolo, Soweto, while his funeral service will be held on September 14, 2024, at the Dlamini Multipurpose Centre Hall in Soweto. He will be laid to rest at West Park Cemetery’s Heroes Acre.
The Ngwenya family has faced challenges in mourning Mapaputsi’s passing, with some mourners allegedly disrespecting their privacy and trying to extort money from them.

The family has begged for privacy to mourn properly, citing instances of abuse and bullying by those claiming to be friends of the late Kwaito star. Despite this, the family will proceed with the funeral and memorial services, celebrating Mapaputsi’s life and legacy.
