Linda Motlhalo is a South African soccer player among the Banyana squad in the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup.

She showed off her skills in the tournament, scoring in the 30th minute in the group stages against Argentina. So, who is she?

Popularly known as Randfontein Ronaldinho, Linda Motlhalo is a winger for the Scottish Women’s Premier League club Glasgow City FC and the South Africa women’s national team.

BACKGROUND AND AGE

The Banyana star was born on 1 July 1998 in Randfontein, Gauteng. As of publication, Linda Motlhalo’s age is 25 years and her star sign is Cancer.

Linda came from a family of footballers, as her father, Johannes Motlhalo was a soccer player although not a professional one. On the other hand, her brother Joseph Motlhalo was a goalkeeper for the Kaizer Chiefs between 1970 to 1985.

EDUCATION

Motlhalo went to TuksSport High School where she was part of the South African High Performance Centre. She played for the South Africa women’s national under-20 football team as a forward.

CAREER

Linda Motlhalo began her soccer journey in 2018 with the Houston Dash in the NWSL, amassing 21 appearances. She moved to Beijing BG Phoenix F.C. in 2019, followed by a stint with Djurgårdens IF in Sweden from 2020 to 2022. In 2023, she joined Glasgow City in SWPL 1 on a permanent contract until June 2025.

On the international stage, Motlhalo represented South Africa at the 2016 Olympics and the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations. In the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, she scored a goal for the South African squad during the group stage.
