KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has garnered widespread acclaim for his unwavering commitment to combating crime in the province.
His tough stance on criminal activity has earned him plaudits and reverence from citizens, who appreciate his dedication to restoring law and order.

Despite the prevalence of police shootouts in the province, which have become an all-too-common occurrence amidst rampant crime, Mkhwanazi’s crime-fighting strategy has been widely praised.
During a recent Imbizo, the top cop addressed officials in the province, emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration among station commanders. He instructed them to hold monthly meetings with the community to update them on crime trends and investigation progress.

Mkhwanazi emphasized the importance of collective engagement in combating crime, stating, “I’ve ordered station commanders to hold station meetings with community leaders in various capacities, including school principals, traditional leaders, and ward councillors.”
He envisioned a unified approach, where “all the role players meet in one place, where the police will inform you about the prevalent crimes in your areas and how they’re dealing with it, and give updates on investigations.” This proactive strategy aims to foster greater cooperation and transparency between law enforcement and the community.
