Mamelodi Sundowns newly signed midfielder Arthur Sales is now the most expensive football player in the South African Premier Soccer League after arriving in the country just few days ago.
Mamelodi Sundowns announced earlier this week that they have signed Arthur Sales, who is originally from Brazil.
The 22-year-old is one of the latest players to join the Chloorkop based side during the June transfer window. He joins the club along with the likes of Kabomelo Kodisang and Keagan Johannes.
How much did Arthur Sales cost?

According to several reports, Mamelodi Sundowns paid €3,2 Million for the talented midfielder. When converted to the South African Rands, the player costed almost R64 Million.
He remains the most expensive football player in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), just above his teammates Marcelo Allande, Matias Esquivel, Tashreeq Matthews, Ronwen Williams and Rivaldo Coetzee.
The 22-year-old is yet to make his official debut at Mamelodi Sundowns, however, the 2024/25 season will soon kick-start and the Brazilians will get a chance to see the player in action.
Arthur Salesʼ position in the field
Arthur Sales play as an attacking midfielder, however, he also play as a striker. He has already scored 22 goals in his football career in just 89 appearances. The attacker also has six assists under his name.
At Mamelodi Sundowns, Sales will compete with the likes of Kabomelo Kodisang, Thembinkosi Lorch, Lebohang Maboe, Tashreeq Matthews, Abubeker Nasir, Lesiba Nku, Themba Zwane and Peter Shalulile.
Arthur Salesʼ background
Arthur Sales grew up in one of the townships called Espirito Santo. He started his football career at the Vasco da Gama development team. The 22-year-old was promoted to the senior team back in January 2021.
He was then sold to the Belgian side, Lommel SK, for a fee which was around €3 Million. The player was then loaned to the Portuguese side, Pacos Ferreira a year later.
After returning to Lommel SK a year later, he was then loaned out once again to the Brazilian club, EC Bahia. The attacker has now been sold to Mamelodi Sundowns for a fee which was around €3.2 Million.
He will be hoping to impress the Dstv Premiership champions and deliver as the supporters are expecting a lot from the player.
At the age of just 22 years old, Arthur Sales has already played in Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and is now in South Africa.
His market value at the moment is €1 Million, according to Transfermarkt. However, Mamelodi Sundowns paid three times more than that and the player was labeled as an investment by the clubʼs management.
Over the past years, Mamelodi Sundowns have invested in many players, especially the South American players which includes the likes of Gaston Sirino, Lucas Costa, Leonardo Castro, Marcelo Allande and many other players.
A lot of South American players have undoubtedly succeeded in Mamelodi Sundowns. The Masandawana scouts believes in South American players as they easily fit in the playing style of the Chloorkop based side.
The South African Premier Soccer League will resume next month, the fixtures are yet to be released by the league.
