Stellenbosch reject Chiefs offer for their defender

Kaizer Chiefs have seen their offer for Fawaaz Basadien rejected by Stellenbosch fc as it was below compared to what the Stellies are hoping to benefit.

According to the South African journalist, Lorenzo Kohler, Kaizer Chiefs will have to increase their offer in order to stand a chance to sign Fawaaz Basadien before the June transfer window closes.

The 27-year-old has been one of the top players in the league last season and has already attracted interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Amakhosi made a move and submitted their offer for the Bafana Bafana defender, however, it was immediately rejected by the Stellies. It has been revealed that Stellenbosch fc has the certain amount that they are looking to benefit from the player if he is sold.

Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with Sifiso Hlanti at the end of last season, leaving a huge gap in the left back position as Sifiso Hlanti was the only player at the club who is a left back.

Edmilson Dove, Happy Mashiane and Reeve Frosler can also play the left back position, however, the coach is looking for a natural left back.

Nasreddine Nabi approved the purchase of Bongani Sam from Kaizer Chiefsʼ arch-rivals, Orlando Pirates. Unfortunately, the purchase of Bongani Sam did not end well as the player is now nursing his injury. The former Bloemfontein Celtic star was injured while they were still in Turkey during the Pre-season camp.

 

STELLENBOSCH REJECT KAIZER CHIEFS OFFER

Fawaaz Basadien is one of the most valuable players in Betway Premiership, according to Transfermarkt. The 27-year-old is currently valued around €1.2 Million, which is close to R24 Million (converted to South African currency).

Amakhosi came knocking for the player’s service, however, things have not gone well for the Glamour boys so far.

After their offer was rejected by Stellenbosch, Amakhosi are yet to submit yet another offer for Fawaaz Basadien. They will surely be submitting yet another offer for the player as they are under pressure from their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, who are also interested in the player.

 

FAWAAZ BASADIENʼS POSITION IN THE FIELD

The 27-year-old is now playing as a left back under Steve Barker. However, he used to play as a left winger years back.

Shpuld the player end up at the Glamour Boys, he will surely walk straight to the starting lineup as the club currently do not have left back.

 

FAWAAZ BASADIENʼS BACKGROUND

The Cape Town born star grew up in Western Cape and started his football career at Milano united. He joined the development team of Cape Town City fc a year later.

Fawaaz Basadien did not last that long at the development team of Cape Town City as he left the club a year later for Ubuntu Football Club.

His stay at Ubuntu Football Club also did not last that long as he joined Steenberg united in July 2019, which was just under a year after joining Ubuntu.

The 27-year-old finally made his debut in the top flight after signing with Moroka Swallows from Steenberg united.

He now has a chance to represent the Soweto giants ahead of the new season. Should Amakhosi fail to meet Stellenboschʼs demands, the club can sign him as a free-agent next year as his contract with Stellenbosch will expire at the end of next season.
