Stanley Tshabalala finally laid to rest

South Africa has gathered together as one of the legends, Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala, passed away last week on Thursday.

The funeral service of the Orlando Pirates legend is currently taking place at the Grace Bible Church in Pimville.

Stanley Tshabalala passed away due to the injuries he sustained when he was shot earlier this year at his home.

 

Who was Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala?

Stanley Tshabalala was a South African football legend who contributed a lot in the football industry in Mzansi, both as a player and also as a coach.

He was actually born on the 15th of March 1949. He is originally from Orlando East in Soweto, one of the most famous townships in South Africa.

The legend played as a midfielder during his days and also represented Orlando Pirates.

After retiring from the professional football, Stanley Tshabalala managed Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and also the South African national team, Bafana Bafana.

 

Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalalaʼs contribution

Many South African football supporters did not know this, however, Screamer was also the co-founder of Kaizer Chiefs, along with the clubʼs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung.

Dr Kaizer Motaung and Stanley Tshabalala had the same vision about Kaizer Chiefs, which was of course a success. Kaizer Chiefs is now labeled as one of the biggest clubs in South Africa, and also the most successful club in the country.

Kaizer Chiefs was established back in 1970, more than 50 years ago now. It is also known as Amakhosi, The Glamour boys, or Abafana base Phefeni.

The club has now won 93 trophies (including non-official trophies) in the past 54 years. That would have not been possible if it was not for Dr Kaizer Motaung and Stanley Tshabalala.

Just before passing away, Stanley Tshabalala was the technical director at Orlando Pirates. He was once accused of giving instructions to the coaches on who to field, however, he went public and slammed those rumours.

 

Stanley Tshabalalaʼs death

It was in March this year that the 75-year-old was shot by intruders during the house robbery. He fought for his life in the hospital, unfortunately, he lost the battle last week on Thursday.

On his funeral service, the likes of Bobby Motaung and Gayton Mckenzie, were some of the people who praised Stanley Tshabalalaʼs work.

When the Kaizer Chiefs Football Club manager, Bobby Motaung, spoke on Screamerʼs funeral service, he stated that Screamer is the one who taught him football.

The minister of Arts and Culture, Gayton Mckenzie, also praised the work of Stanley Tshabalala in South Africa football industry.

Gayton Mckenzie stated that he never got a chance to meet Stanley Mckenzie in person, however, he was a fan of his work and his contribution to the South African football industry will forever be remembered.

The funeral service of Stanley Tshabalala is being live stream by SABC. Many South Africans have been watching the live stream, as they could not be present at the actual venue where Stanley Tshabalala is being laid to rest.
