Chiefs could withdraw their interest in DR Congo striker due to the price tag

Kaizer Chiefs could withdraw their interest in signing the DR Congo highly-rated striker due to the price tag that has been slapped on the player.

Latest reports have reveled that the Kaizer Chiefs newly appointed head coach Nasreddine Nabi is interested in signing Fiston Mayele as he is looking to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

Despite being strongly interested in signing the DR Congo striker, however, the hopes of the player coming to Naturena are slowly fading away as his parent club are looking to pocket at least R30 Million for the player.

The Egyptian giants, Pyramids, believes their striker, Fiston Mayele, is worth at least R30 Million. Even though the player is already 30 years old, however, the club believes he still has a lot to offer in the field.

The newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, precious worked with Fiston Mayele while they were still at the Tanzania giants, Yanga Africans.

He remains as the top target of the Kaizer Chiefs coach, however, the club is not willing to pay R30 Million for the player.

The 30-year-old has been the backbone of Pyramids this season as they are currently sitting on top of the table in the Egyptian Premier League. Mayele has already scored 17 goals and also registered five assists in just 30 appearances.

Apart from Kaizer Chiefs, other clubs are also interested in signing the player, however, the price tag that has been slapped on the player is making things difficult for them.

Pyramids are also considering Fiston Mayele as one of their key players going forward. A source believes the price tag that has been placed on the player is just a way of Pyramids telling other clubs that the player is actually not for sale.

Apart from Mamelodi Sundowns, there aren’t many football clubs that could spend so much on a player, according to the source.

Fiston Mayeleʼs position

The 30-year-old is a striker, however, he can also play as an attacking midfielder and also as a right winger. Kaizer Chiefs currently has Ranga Chivaviro, Wandile Duba, Ashley Du Preez and Christian Saile in the strikerʼs department.

Christian Saile and Ashley Du Preez have been used mostly as wingers as they have speed. Leaving only Ranga Chivaviro and Wandile Duba in that number 9 position. Wandile Duba on the other hand has not been rated much by the Kaizer Chiefs coaches and has been spending most of his senior career on the sideline.

Ranga Chivaviro on the other hand has not met the expectations at the club. That is why Kaizer Chiefs are expected to sign at least two new strikers who already has experience.

Fiston Mayeleʼs background

The international striker started his football career at DR Congo, where he represented Simba and AS Vita before moving to the Tanzania giants, Yanga Africans.

At Yanga Africans, that is where he met Nasreddine Nabi. They worked together and the player was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs. Unfortunately, he ended up joining the Egyptian giants, Pyramids.

His current market value is €600k, which is just over R11 Million when converted to the South African rands.
